Terms of use

Beta · last updated 22 October 2026

OpenFetch is a free beta tool that gathers public open data for a site you choose and saves it as a model file. By using it you agree to these terms.

Check before you rely on it

OpenFetch gives you published open data as it is, with no warranty of any kind. Open data can be out of date, incomplete or wrong, and a model built from it is not a survey. Before using a model for design, documentation, approvals or construction, check it against a site survey by a licensed surveyor and against the official sources.

The data belongs to its publishers

Layers come from government, council and, only if you switch it on, community sources. Each keeps its own licence, listed on the data sources page and inside every file you download. Most official Australian data is under Creative Commons Attribution 4.0: you may use it, including commercially, if you credit the publisher. OpenStreetMap data is under the Open Database Licence. You are responsible for following the licence of each layer you use.

Maps and address search

The background maps and address search are provided by Esri for finding your site only. They are never part of a download.

Fair use

Use OpenFetch for your own projects. Do not use it to overload the data portals it reads from, for example with automated bulk requests.

Limits of responsibility

To the extent the law allows, OpenFetch and its maker are not liable for any loss arising from use of the tool or the data. Nothing in these terms limits rights you have under the Australian Consumer Law that cannot be excluded.

Changes

These terms may change as OpenFetch leaves beta. The date at the top shows the latest version.
